Jean Adams Bunch, 83, of 111 Robin Lane, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, NC.

Mrs. Bunch was born in Washington, NC on March 16, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Clyde Simpson Adams, Sr. and Myrtle Spruill Adams. She served as a clerk for the Chowan County Health Department. She was a faithful member of Edenton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Alvin Bunch, Sr.

Known affectionately as “Grandmama”, Mrs. Bunch was extremely proud of her grandchildren. She loved every family beach trip, spending the holidays with the whole family, and making her secret recipe brownies. Her three boys always thought she could walk on water.

Surviving are her three sons, George Alvin “Al” Bunch, Jr. and his wife, Lilly of Winston-Salem, NC, Brian Adams Bunch and his wife, Missie of Edenton, NC, and Michael Lee Bunch and his wife MaryGeneva of Chapel Hill, NC; six grandchildren, Dr. Lauren Bunch Wilson (and husband Cole Wilson) of Raleigh, NC, Lindsey Bunch Pendleton (and husband Dr. Matthew Pendleton) of Morgantown, WV, Holden Olsen Bunch of Camden, SC, Connor Ellis Bunch of Charlotte, NC, Samuel Williams Bunch of Winston-Salem, NC, and Wyatt Douglas Bunch of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Judith A. Peele (and husband, Carroll) of Edenton, NC, Joan A. Steman of Deltona, FL, and Debra A. Fink (and husband William) of Virginia Beach, VA; and two brothers, Clyde S. Adams, Jr. (and wife, Jackie) of Clayton, NC, and Richard B. Adams (and wife, Kim) of Edenton, NC.

Following a private family burial in Beaver Hill Cemetery, a service of celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Edenton Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Koby Strawser. Friends may join the family at the residence on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
