Janice Ellen Boyce Eure, 80, of 407 Selwin Road, died Thursday, November 21, 2024, in her home where she was surrounded by family.
Mrs. Eure was born in Suffolk, Virginia, on January 6, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Gordon William and Clara Miller Boyce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in February of 2022 by her husband of 58 years, Claude Hollowell Eure.
A wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and talented artist, her quiet times were spent painting in her backyard studio. Many in the area will remember her watercolors at local art shows and exhibits. Memberships included Hobbsville Baptist Church and various art associations.
Surviving is her son, Gavin Eure (Crystal), and their daughters, Maci and Chloe of Elizabeth City; her sister, Jackie Peele (Tom) of Henderson, and their son, Chris (Blakely), and their sons, Cal and Gentry of Bullock. Also surviving are other extended members of the Boyce and Eure families.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Hobbsville Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Tim Dannelly. The burial will be private in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, or in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service on Monday.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to her caregivers, Shelley, Brooklyn, Kelly, Sheryl, Pam, and Darlene, and more recently to the staff of Albemarle Home Care & Hospice for the care and comfort provided to Mrs. Eure during the period of declining health.
