James Edward Sparkman

   James Edward “Jimmy” Sparkman, 76, of 679 Taylor Mill Road, Eure, NC, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   Mr. Sparkman was born in Norfolk, VA on December 12, 1943, and was the son of the late William Mills, Jr. and Julia Louise Johnson Sparkman. A retired manager, he had been employed with an electrical supply business. He was an Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hoffman Sparkman.

   Surviving are his step-daughter, Martha Jordan; his step-granddaughter, Amy Trawick, both of Iron City, GA; a sister, Mary Rice and husband, Claude, of Eure; a brother, William T. “Bill” Sparkman and wife, Anita, of Chesapeake, VA; two nieces, Christy Johnson and Katy Bonk; and four nephews, Curtis Rice, and Stephen, Phillip, and Caleb Sparkman.

   A private service will be held by the family at a later time. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
