James Carroll “Teny” Jordan, 85, formerly of Happy Home Road, Tyner, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Born on August 24, 1940, Teny was the son of Ollie Norman Jordan and Easter Mae Goodwin Jordan, both deceased.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight sisters, Hazel Davis, Louise Dail, Ruth Longacre, Margaret D. “Lois” Jordan, Beulah Mae Goodwin, Lillian Rhodes, Sarah Elizabeth Jordan, and an infant sister; and five brothers, Hubert Jordan, Robert Jordan, Cary Jordan, Wilber Jordan, and Jesse Melvin Jordan..

Survivors include his two sisters, Doris McGue and Sue Rogiano; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Teny was deeply loved and cherished by his fellow residents at the Edenton House facility, as well as by the dedicated staff who cared for him. He touched the lives of many through his presence and the relationships he formed with those around him.

Funeral services celebrating Teny’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Edenton, NC with pastor Walter Byrum officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the Jordan Family Cemetery, Tyner, NC with Kip McDonald officiating.

At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of his niece, Denise Peckham, 164 Great Hope Church Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
