James Bryant Byrum

James Bryant “Drawz” Byrum, 63, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026 in Edenton, NC.

Bryant was born on December 15, 1962 in Edenton, NC and was the son of Peggy Turner Byrum and the late Wallace Sanford Byrum, Sr.

Bryant is survived by his mother Peggy Turner Byrum; sons, James Daniel Byrum (Nicole Byrum), Clinton Vandy Byrum (Stacey Byrum), and Jacob Samuel Byrum (Hope Howard); siblings, Belinda Byrum McKeel (Mike McKeel) and Wallace Sanford Byrum, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Holton Willis White, Grayson Harris Byrum, Savannah Grace Byrum, Haley Swanner, Shauna Miller, Ty Parra, and Mia Parra; two nephews, Kyle McKeel and Luke McKeel; and one niece, Amber Byrum.

Bryant worked 10 years at UPS, where he worked as a mechanic, keeping things running and fixing what others couldn't. Bryant loved racing cars, truck pulling and spent countless hours working on cars, doing what he loved most. Above all, Bryant cherished time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Also loyal dog, Bud Man, was more than a pet—he was Bryant's best friend. Bryant was known for his generous heart and selfless spirit. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back—sometimes literally—if it meant helping someone in need. His kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 3:00 pm, with a visitation held an hour before from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home in Edenton, NC with a burial at Beaver Hill Cemetery.

The family will be receiving visitors at 212 Nixon Rd., Edenton, NC 27932.
