James Dewey "Jim" Asbury, Sr.

   James Dewey “Jim” Asbury, Sr., 57, of 2543 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton, NC, died Friday, October 15, 2021 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mr. Asbury was born in Harford County, MD on September 9, 1964, and was the son of Judy Darlene Hash Asbury of Smyrna, DE and the late James Howard Asbury. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jessie Asbury. A retired diesel technician, for many years he had been employed with Western Branch Diesel in Portsmouth, VA. Among his greatest enjoyments in life included taking his boat out on the water and going fishing.

   Surviving along with his mother is his wife of nearly 32 years, Cassie Altman Asbury; two daughters, Victoria Alons (Roy) and Christine Asbury (Michelangelo), all of Edenton; three sons, James Asbury, Jr. (Ashley) of Edenton, Michael Asbury (Emily) of Elizabeth City, and Christopher Asbury (Courtney) of Hertford; two sisters, Jamie Saxon (David) of Watertown, WI and Jan Clark (Jim) of Smyrna, DE; five grandchildren, Allison, Axle, Brantley, Paxton, and Dylan, and a granddaughter due to be born in November; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Pastor A.J. Layton. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
