Iris Cobb Pierce

   Iris Ruth Cobb Pierce, 83, of 103 River View Park Lane, Merry Hill, NC, died Thursday, December 8, 2022 in Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, Chesapeake, VA.

   Mrs. Pierce was born in Hertford County on March 7, 1939, and was one of twelve children born to the late Zeb Vance and Lillian Brown Cobb. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Ernestine Leggett; brothers, infant Cordell, Harvey, Leslie, Henry, George and Jay; and in 2010 by her husband, Robert Grey Pierce, Sr.

   A licensed Dietician, Mrs. Pierce retired after more than 20 years in the Nutritional Service Dept. of the Chesapeake City Schools System.

   Surviving are two sons, Robert Grey Pierce, Jr. (wife, Teresa) of Chesapeake and Mark Allan Pierce (wife, Jennifer) of Eure; two sisters, Dorothy Baker of Merry Hill and Linda Connolly of Buena Vista, VA; two brothers, Will Cobb of Tyner and Robert Cobb of Colerain; four grandchildren, Andrea (husband, Chris), Katie, Thomas and Vicktoria; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia.

   Graveside services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton.
