Inda Marie Powell Harrell, 79, of Goldsboro, NC, and formerly of Eure, NC, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 in Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro.
Mrs. Harrell was born in Norfolk, VA on July 17, 1944 and was the daughter of the late William Roland and Blanche Marie Cahoon Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Melvin “Jimmy” Harrell, her son, James Carlton Harrell, her brother, William Arthur “Bill” Powell, and by her granddaughter, Diana Nicole Harrell.
A homemaker, through the years she had been employed with several exchange stores at various military bases as she moved with her husband during his 25-year career with the US Air Force. Among her many enjoyments, she loved gardening, working on puzzles, and reading. She was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Cynthia Harrell Jeffers of Goldsboro; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Harrell of Eure; two grandchildren, Christy Bumgardner (husband, Kyle) of Willow Spring and James Douglas “J.D.” Harrell (wife, Maddie) of Eure; and four great-grandchildren, Avery and Levi Bumgardner, both of Willow Spring, and James Wallace “J.W.” Harrell and Makayla Harrell, both of Eure.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 24th, at 11:00 a.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Eric Bass. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church social hall immediately following the service on Wednesday.
