Hubert Dale Vanscoy, Sr.

Hubert Dale Vanscoy, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, at the age of 96. Born in Randolph County, West Virginia, on November 12, 1929, Hubert was the son of the Late James A. Vanscoy and Dolly Grace Taylor Vanscoy.

A proud veteran, Hubert honorably served his country in the Navy, embodying courage and dedication that continued to shine throughout his civilian life. Following his military service, he led by example, instilling values of integrity and perseverance in his family.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Vanscoy and Dolly Grace Vanscoy, and his devoted wife, Betty Gregory Vanscoy.

He is survived by his son, Hubert D. Vanscoy Jr. and wife, Robin Vanscoy; his grandchildren, Heather Miller and husband Richard Miller, and Jason Vanscoy and wife Shannon Vanscoy; his great-grandchildren, Alyscia Vanscoy-Sasso and husband Timothy Sasso, Tabitha Vanscoy, Mackenzie Vanscoy, and Jason Vanscoy.
