Horace L. Wright

   Horace Lee Wright, 83, of 105 Camellia Drive, Camden, NC,  passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

   Mr. Wright was born in Camden County on May 2, 1941, and was the son of the late Winfred and Jessie Mae Pendergrass Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Winfred Riddick. A shipfitter, he retired from the former Metro Machine Corporation in Norfolk, VA following over 30 years of employment.

   Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Shirley Simmons Wright; two daughters, Goldie Jean Forbes (husband, David) of Nags Head and Sandra Lee Winslow (husband, Tommy) of Hertford; four grandchildren, Brittany Jones (husband, Paul), Lauren Forbes, Brett Forbes, and Brandy Mann (husband, Carter); and four great-grandchildren, Rayd Jones, Blane Mann, Ella Mae Mann, and Barron Forbes.

   A time of visitation for family and friends will be held Monday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.
