It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Herbert Thomas Winslow. He was born November 1st ,1952 and passed away Thursday, June 25th, 2026. After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2020, Herbert fought with unwavering courage and strength. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend. He and his wife built a successful business from the ground up. He had achieved the American dream. He truly loved the outdoors. His childhood home in Hertford, NC held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed spending time there. His passion was gardening. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of hard work, perseverance, and determination. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Melinda, son, Matthew and daughter in law, Melanie; grandson, Mason; his sister, Judy Roach (Donald); Sister-in-law, Judy Winslow (Frank); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard (Snook) and Annie Winslow (Tup); brother, Frank Winslow; and son, Andrew Winslow.

Funeral services celebrating Herbert’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Hertford, NC. Following will be the burial at the Cedarwood Cemetery.
