Henry Gayle Flythe

   Henry Gayle Flythe, 75, of 400 Savage Road, Corapeake, NC, died Monday, January 17, 2022 in his home where he was cared for by his family.

   Mr. Flythe was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on December 22, 1946 and was the son of the late Richard Turner Flythe, Sr. and Lillian Erekson Flythe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard T. Flythe, Jr.

   The retired owner of Suffolk Industrial Fasteners, Mr. Flythe was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, and a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church and its Baptist Men.

   Surviving is his wife, Barbara Jones Flythe; their son, Jeffrey Flythe (wife, Danielle); and grandchildren, Mitchell Henry Flythe, Lucas Erekson Flythe, and a third due in June, all of Corapeake. Also surviving are two sisters, Bettie Garrison (husband, Ray) of Yarmouth, MA and Brenda Dennis (husband, Robert) of Lawrenceville, VA; a sister-in-law, Jane Flythe of Gilbert, SC; several nieces and nephews, and other extended family members.

   A private family service with military honors will be held on Monday, January 31st in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. The memorial service previously planned to follow the burial has been cancelled due to family health concerns and the uncertainty of weather conditions. It will be rescheduled at a later time.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Baptist Men of Beulah Baptist Church, P.O. Box 101, Sunbury, NC 27979.

   The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to his sister, Brenda, and to his niece, Laura Perzanowski, for the care and comfort shown to them and to their loved one during his illness and time of transition.
