Helen Louise Heriford passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on Sunday, May 10th, 1931, in Missouri, Helen brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met throughout her long and fulfilling life.

A resident of Edenton, NC, Helen retired as an Administrative Secretary with UNC Chapel Hill. She was an active member of the Edenton Knitting Group, the Edenton Friday Craft Group, Tidewater Weavers, and Triangle Weavers. Her passion for learning and giving back led her to be a valued board member of the Friends of the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library in Edenton and participate in the Handicap Riding Group. She also completed the Master Gardeners Program, cultivating both beauty and knowledge in her garden and her life.

Helen was preceded in death by husband, William Henry Heriford. Her enduring legacy is carried on by her surviving family: her three daughters, Robyn Helene Gardner, Megan Paige Heriford, and Laura Dilys Heriford; her son, James Morgan Heriford; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her days.

The family extends their gratitude to friends and community members who supported Helen and participated in her life. Her legacy will be one of love, creativity, and generous spirit, remembered fondly and with gratitude.
