Gurney Milton Eason, Jr.

Gurney Milton Eason, Jr., 73, of Gates, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

A native of Norfolk, VA, Gurney was the husband of Vickie Miles Eason and the son of Gurney Milton Eason, Sr. and Betty Alice Conner Eason, both deceased. Gurney was a mechanic his entire life and retired from the Norfolk City Garage with more than 30 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan and in earlier years had his own race car. Gurney enjoyed fishing and vacationing in the mountains with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie; daughters, Mackinna Gallagher and her husband, Danny, and Krystal Eason; seven grandchildren, Addyson Hancock, Danny Gallagher, Jr., Aiden Hancock, Rayne Gallagher, Lucas Gallagher, Kade Posey, and Noel Gallagher; sister, Carol Buddenhagen; and brother, Roger D. Evans.

In addition to his parents, Gurney was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Eason Jorgensen.

Funeral services celebrating Gurney’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Chapel, Gatesville, NC with Pastor Kenny Matthews officiating. Interment will be private at the Gallagher Family Cemetery.
