Glenna Walker Alcock, 90, of Moyock, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in Arden Courts, Virginia Beach, VA.
Mrs. Alcock was born in Currituck County on January 1, 1935, and was the youngest daughter of the late Wilton Walker Sr. and Katie Flora Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Nolan Clifton Alcock and her siblings, Flora Walker Grabow (Lee), Adelaide Walker Foreman (James), Wilton Walker Jr. (Margaret), Jean Walker, Robert Walker (Ellen), and by a son-in-law, Ronald Charles Smith.
Glenna was the heart of her family and home. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister who was always proud of her family's heritage, having been born and raised in Currituck County. A lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church, she was also an active member of the Shawboro Ruritan Club and enjoyed serving as a docent for the Whalehead Club and Currituck Wildlife Museum for many years, guiding and educating visitors from around the country about the rich history and people of Currituck, notable among them, her father Wilton Walker Sr., a renowned boat builder, decoy carver, hunter, and waterman. Her life was one of service and love of God, her family, her church and her community. Her special love for all children was reflected in everything she did, never hesitating to share a smile, laugh and hug with children of all ages. In retirement she and her husband Nolan delighted in sharing their love of travel with the Providence Seniors by coordinating, planning and participating in monthly trips and activities. Glenna was quick with a smile and loved to laugh, was an animated story-teller and a well-loved and respected woman. The memories and experiences left behind for so many from Glenna will be cherished and impactful for generations to come. The world is truly a better place because she was in it.
Surviving Glenna are her two daughters, Catherine Logan of Moyock and Phyllis Alcock Smith of Chesapeake, VA., her son, Nolan Clark Alcock (Sharon) of Wake Forest; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Nataliia), Michael (Heather), Matthew (Dawn), David (Nicole), Hannah, Andrew, Emily, and Aiden; eleven great grandchildren, Nathan Alexander, Xanden, Xelirra, Nikol, Braxton, Kiera, Kennedy, Vivian, Sloane, and Sadie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
