George W. Rodormer

   George W. Rodormer, 89, of Lighthouse Point, FL, passed away on April 17, 2023 after a short illness at the home of his daughter, Kimberly Anne Fruda, of Daytona Beach, FL.

   Mr. Rodormer was born on October 31, 1933, in Park Ridge, Ill to Everett Winston Rodormer and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Rodormer. Mr. Rodormer attended Deerfield Academy. He graduated in 1951, and in the same year, joined the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Coral Sea during the Korean War. After his service he attended Syracuse University, and then worked with Reliable Electric. After early retirement, Mr. Rodormer was able to travel extensively; he particularly enjoyed visiting the National Parks with his wife, Doris. He was an avid reader of anything science-related and he loved traveling by train. He had an infectious smile and enjoyed a good jazz beat. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him for his kindness and other fine qualities. As he once wrote, “As we go down the fairway of life, let’s pick up our divots, plant some flowers and enjoy...”

   He was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy Schrier of Ormond Beach, FL; and by his second wife, Doris Brown Rodormer of Lighthouse Point, FL. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Susan “Sunny” Kaiser of Yarmouth, ME and Mary “Murf” Rodormer Lockett of Sea Island, GA.

   Mr. Rodormer is survived by his daughter, Ms. Fruda and his son George Ward Rodormer of Daytona Beach; his brother, Robert Rodormer of Skaneateles, NY; his step-daughter, Martha Petty, and his step-son, William Petty. He was also survived by four grandsons: Winston Rodormer, Harrison Rodormer, Parker Rodormer and Trevor Fugett Petty, and many nieces and nephews.

   In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charities of your choice.

   A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, NC. Arrangements made by Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, NC.
