George A. Parker, 87, of Eure, NC, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

George was born on July 16, 1939, and was the husband of 64 years to the late Hazel Johnson Parker and the son of George Washington Parker and Thelma Lee Parker, both deceased. He was a member of Eure Christian Church and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. George was the well-known barber in Gatesville for more than 46 years. He also served as a Gates County Magistrate for more than 17 years. George and his wife, Hazel owned and operated Affordable Tax Services in downtown Gatesville. He had a love for gardening, providing free produce for friends and family. George was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and a true friend. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his daughter, April Jernigan (Tony) of Gates, NC; two sons, Greg Parker (Cindi) of Winterville, NC, and Al Parker (Michele Wallis) of Eure, NC; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Askew; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Parker Crawford; and his siblings, Deanna Bunch, Sylvia Curle, Franklin Parker, and Isaac Parker.

Funeral services celebrating George’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Eure Christian Church with Pastor Wade Bennett officiating. Burial will be private in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Eure Christian Church, 872 NC 137, Eure, NC 27935, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
