Genevieve Chappell Auman, 80, passed on from this life on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Virginia Beach , Virginia.
Genevieve was the daughter of Hubert and Eliza Bunch Chappell of Belvedere, Perquimans County, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Lou Evans and brother Woody Chappell.
She is survived by her husband Dr. J. Richard Auman of Virginia Beach, VA, sons Greg White (Kim) of Morehead City, N.C., David White (Nichole ) of Elizabeth City, N.C., Jon Auman (Laurie) of Watford, England and Todd Auman (Jennie) of Durham, N.C. as well as niece Darlene Smith (Jeff) of Orange Beach AL, and nephews Carroll Evans (Becky) and Chris Evans (Lisa) of Chowan County, N.C.
Genevieve leaves many happy memories of summer visits, special trips and wonderful Christmas times with grandchildren Eli, Makenna and Rylan White of Elizabeth City, N.C.; Bala Auman (Savannah) of Cancun, Mex.; Subhadra , Syama and Kai Auman of Watford, England; Hanuman Auman of Hillsborough , N.C.; Samantha and Eric Auman of Durham, N.C, and Taylor White and Zack Kane, grandson by choice, of Depere, WI.
After thirty years apart Genevieve reunited with high school friend Richard Auman, which led to 33 years of married fun and adventure. She travelled with Richard to all seven continents, over 40 countries and most U.S. states, hiking and pushing comfort zones with tree-top canopy walks, whitewater rafting, and shaky swinging bridges. Genevieve lived life to its fullest right up to her 80th year, but now she has faded away to joy.
A graveside memorial will be held at Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, N.C. at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 24, 2025. There will be visitation with the family at the grave site following the service.
The family respectfully requests no food.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations may be sent to the charity of one’s choice or to Wings Over Virginia Hospice, 6325 North Center Drive, Building 18, Suite 204, Norfolk, VA, 23502.
