Gayle Stout

Gayle Stout, originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, peacefully went home to be with the Lord at age 90 on May 13, 2025 at Landings of Albemarle in Hertford, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Furman and Emily Stout; her younger brother, Furman Stout; and her son, Jeff Mumper, his wife, Greta and their children, Emma and Jakob.

She leaves behind many memories for her son, John Mumper, his wife, Laurette and son, Grant; daughter, Sally and her husband, Chauncey; their son, Jason, his wife, Rachel, and their children, Lincoln, Reid and Waverly; and their daughter, Chelsea, her husband, Josh and their children, Rosie and Rudi.

Although Gayle came to know the Lord, Jesus, as her Savior later in life, she wasted no time sharing the fire that He ignited in her everywhere he led her. Gayle lived a full life ministering to others through Yokefellow Prison Ministry, homeless ministries, clothes closet ministries, Pregnancy Resource Center and various other church ministries. She also ministered to all those who walked into her vintage clothing store, Yesterday’s Dreams, in the Outer Banks, many years ago. Gayle was often known to take what others had discarded and make beautiful again whether it was clothing, furniture or even people. She had a heart for the underdog and always found a way to lift them up and let them know their value and importance in this world.

Gayle leaves behind a legacy of prayer and a passion for Jesus and would want for all those who read this to know Him as Lord and meet her in Heaven one day soon.
