Gaila Collingsworth Hurdle

   Gaila Collingsworth Hurdle, 69, of 819 St. John’s Millennium Road, Aulander, NC, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 in ECU Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   Mrs. Hurdle was born in Butler County, OH on April 7, 1954, and was the daughter of the late James Paris and Lois Virginia Powell Collingsworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wayne Hurdle. A homemaker, she was a member of Brantley’s Grove Baptist Church.

   Surviving is her daughter, Stacy Fitzgibbon (husband, Brian) of Cary; a son, Troy Hand (wife, Tanya) of Aulander; a brother, Howard Collingsworth, also of Aulander; five grandchildren, Katelynn R. Stone (husband, Zach), Ralph C. Kennington IV, Nolan W. Blowe, Paris Hand, and Hannah C. Hand; and two great-grandchildren, Kaiden L. Kennington and Juniper Rose Stone.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Ward. Burial will follow in the Job Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation in the funeral home the hour prior to the services on Friday.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
