Gail Brickhouse Dail

   Gail Brickhouse Dail, 87, of NC 94 North, Creswell, NC, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation Center.

   Mrs. Dail was born in Tyrrell County on May 17, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Sidney M. and Etta Marie Hudson Brickhouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 63 years, Carl Fletcher Dail; her brother, David Brickhouse (wife, Christine); an infant grandson, Samuel Joseph Spruill; and by her son-in-law, Sandy Spruill.

   Formerly employed with Newport News Police Dept. and later with the State of Virginia Dept. of Probation & Parole, after moving back to North Carolina and making their home in Creswell, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Weyerhaeuser, and lastly with her husband in the operation of Dail’s Auto Supply. She was a member of Philippi Church of Christ.

   Surviving are two daughters, Carla Dail Spruill of Hillsboro, OH and Janet Dail of Hampton, VA; a sister, Joyce Meredith (husband, Don) of Hartsville, SC; two brothers, Harvey Brickhouse (wife, Jessie) and Marvin S. Brickhouse (wife, Margaret), both of Creswell; three grandchildren, Caroline Cross (husband, Daniel), Julia McNear (husband, Dan) and Jeffrey Spruill (wife, Andrea); five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Ezekiel and Josiah Spruill and Abigail and Kenneth McNear; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 18th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Minister Phillip Alligood. She will be buried next to her husband in Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home the hour before services.
