Frank Henderson Chappell

Frank Henderson Chappell, 88, of Tyner, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Frank was the husband of Bonnie Ward Chappell and the son of the late Charlie Thomas Chappell and Eliza Jane Boyce Chappell. Frank was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy serving on the USS Saratoga and the USS Independence as a fighter jet mechanic. He retired from Union Camp in Franklin, VA after 37 years. He farmed for many years and was well known for raising Congo watermelons and pigs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bonnie Ward Chappell;  his son, Randall Chappell (Jane); grandson, Dillon Chappell (Hannah); great-grandson, Gabe Chappell; and a sister, Nina Jane Byrum. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brothers, Thomas & AJ Chappell and a sister, Mildred Chappell King.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, NC; with Pastor Russell Blanchard and Pastor and nephew Walter Byrum officiating.  The family will greet friends after the service at Center Hill Community Center.

The family would like to express their sincere thankfulness for the efforts of all the emergency services involved on Wednesday including an unknown good Samaritan first on the scene. Words cannot express the gratefulness felt to the medical team at ECU Medical Center, Greenville, NC.; ER Trauma Dr. David Trisler, Nurse Kylie Strenge and the entire team for their extraordinary measures in the preservation of life until the family arrived.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Belvidere Fire Department.
