Forrest Hunter Rountree, Jr., 82, of Eure, NC passed away peacefully at his residence with his loving family by his side on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Born on January 1, 1944, Forrest was the husband of 58 years to Sandra Williams Rountree and was the son of Forrest Hunter Rountree, Sr. and Allie Starling Rountree, both deceased. In addition to his parents, Forrest was preceded in death by his brother, Alton Rountree. Forrest was a life-long farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; son, F. Hunter Rountree, III and wife, Natalie; daughter, Janna Daugherty and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Olivia Rountree and Sean Rountree; sister, Janet Watford and husband, Jim; and three nephews, Jeffrey Watford, Jason Watford, and J.D. Watford.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Gatesville, NC.

Funeral services celebrating Forrest’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Gatesville, NC with Pastor Walter Byrum officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eure Volunteer Fire Department.
