Elizabeth Faye Byrum Casper, 91, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Faye was born in Edenton, NC on April 21, 1935 to parents John A. Byrum and Sara King Byrum.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Casper; her brother, John Albert Byrum; and her two infant boys.

Faye is survived by her daughters, Lois C. Chappell (husband Ronnie), Frances Wall (husband Steve); son, Chris Casper (wife Beth); grandchildren, Christy Walker (husband Alonzo), Jason Rountree (friend Terri), Andy Wall (wife Jackie), and Jimmy Purcell (wife Jill); six great grandchildren, McKenzie Rountree, Aydon Walker, Cameron Walker, Chase Wall, Eva Purcell, and Frankie Purcell; sister Anne Copeland (husband Lessell); and lots of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Faye was best known for Miss Faye’s Daycare, and absolutely loved each and every child that she kept. Along with the daycare, she also worked at Don Juan Sewing Factory in Hertford, NC.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home in Gatesville, NC. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 at King Cemetery, 249 Joppa Rd., Belvidere, NC 27919 at 11:00 am.
