Eva Pavey

Eva Pavey, 88, of Gatesville, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Born in Craven County, NC to the late Charlie Franklin Daw and Gracie Flanagan Daw, she settled in Gates County where she was a homemaker and wife to James Leroy Pavey, Sr. for 72 years. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Ray Pavey and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Pavey.

Eva had a green thumb and enjoyed flowers. She could make anything grow, taking any flower and reviving it to show its true beauty. She worked hard all her life raising and loving her seven children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, James Leroy Pavey, Sr.; two daughters, Gracie Pierce and husband, and Sidney, Mary Bunch and husband, Michael; and four sons, Robert Pavey and wife, Kristina, Harold Pavey and wife, Peggy, Richard Pavey and wife, Bonnie, and James Pavey, Jr. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren with two more on the way.

A time of visitation and celebration of James and Eva’s lives will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Gatesville, NC.
