Edwin Rego Cabral

   Edwin Rego Cabral, 70, formerly of 310 Drum Hill Road, Corapeake, NC, and more recently resided at 106 Riverhaven Drive in Hertford, NC, died peacefully Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

   Mr. Cabral was born in Suffolk, VA on September 17, 1952, and was the son of the late Edmund Rego Cabral and Christine Elizabeth Odom Cabral. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Davin Blake Cabral.

   The former owner of Cabral Construction, he was a licensed commercial and residential contractor as well as a licensed real estate agent. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed such as hunting but his true passion was fishing. He had a keen sense of the local rivers and had his own secret spots that allowed anyone that went with him the chance to catch fish. He was also well known for sharing funny stories that would make anyone smile.

   Surviving is his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara Jordan Cabral; two sons, Shawn Cabral (wife, Lisa) and Justin Cabral (wife, Chessie); two grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Cabral; a great-granddaughter, Blakelyn Grace Cabral, all of Corapeake; his aunt, Joyce Odom Fulgham (husband, David) of Suffolk; and his canine companion, Trouble.

   A celebration of his life will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Parker's United Methodist Church, 59 Parker's Church Road, Corapeake. A private burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and other times at Shawn and Lisa's home, 164 Drum Hill Road, Corapeake.

   The family would also like to send their sincere thanks to all the friends and neighbors that have helped, called and visited over the last several weeks.
