Dr. Jane Truax Johnson

Dr. Jane Truax Johnson, 85, of Edenton, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

A native of Monon, IN, Jane was the wife of the late Douglas A. Johnson, and was the daughter of Dayton Ray Truax and Nancy Mae Stevenson Truax, both deceased. After teaching for many years in various settings, Jane received her Doctorate degree in psychology from Walden University on August 15, 2021. She loved to read and play Pogo on her computer. Jane attended the Church of the Redeemer, Camden, NC. Dr. Johnson made an impact on many lives through her teaching. She was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her sons, David Duckworth and wife, Kellie, and Randy Wilson and wife, Martina; former daughter-in-law, Diana Wallace; grandchildren, Ashley Wade and husband, Kivonte, Nicole Duckworth, and Rocky Jon Duckworth, II; great grandchildren, Dior Wade, Cash Wade, and Serenady Duckworth; several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Joe Truax; beloved cats, Shadow, Marble, and Socks; and her beloved dog, Bandit.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by her son, Rocky Jon Duckworth; and brothers, Dayton Truax, Robert Truax, and Richard Truax.

A memorial service celebrating Jane’s life will be held by the family at a later date.
