Dorothy
Summann
Sep 30, 1941 — Oct 4, 2026
Edenton, NC
Born and raised in New Zealand, Dorothy was the daughter of Fergus and Dorothy and the sister of Gem. She carried a lifelong love of travel and adventure. Her journeys took her to Japan and throughout Europe, and she also traveled with her beloved sister. While Martin was deployed with the Navy in New Zealand, their paths crossed, and they later married. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Leta, and later adopted Roxana and three grandchildren, building a life filled with treasured memories.
Dorothy lived with purpose and a generous spirit. She gave her time faithfully to the Red Hatter Society, ESL programs, and Sentara Nursing Home, where her kindness brought comfort to residents. She also served with pride in the Navy Marine Axillary.
Dorothy found joy in dolls, jewelry, and the Royal Family—interests that reflected her refined tastes and her enduring curiosity about the world. These simple pleasures were part of what made her so uniquely and lovingly remembered.
Whenever we make a cup of tea, we will think of Dorothy and remember her with love. She will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
