Delores B. Byrum

   Delores Jeanne Byrum, 76, of 312 Sign Pine Road, Tyner, NC, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 in ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   Mrs. Byrum was born in Perquimans County on February 5, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Eugene Edward and Hazel Pegram Byrum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Riley Whit Williams, and by her brother, William Eugene Byrum, Sr.

   A homemaker, her passion in life was her family and providing for the needs of her loved ones. A member of Whiteville Grove Baptist Church, she had been active in its Embrace Women’s Ministry and had formerly served as an assistant church pianist.

   Surviving is her husband of 28 years, Colbert Western Byrum; her daughter, Sheila Williams Twine (husband, Jimmy) of Belvidere; two grandchildren, McKenzie and Austin Twine; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Whiteville Grove Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor E. Lee Penwell. A private burial will be in the Byrum Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, or in the social hall of the church immediately following the services on Tuesday, or other times at the residence.

   Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Whiteville Grove Baptist Church, in care of Kaye Winslow, 1823 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC 27919, and be designated for the Embrace Women’s Ministry.
