David Stone

   George David Stone, 69, of Sticks Lane, Hertford, NC, died Sunday, January 29, 2023 in his home.

   Mr. Stone was born in Norfolk, VA on January 15, 1954, and was the son of the late George Washington Stone and Dorothy Wheeler Stone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Lee Stone; his step-mother, Betty Jean Stone; and by his sister-in-law, Pam Stone.

   An Army veteran, firefighter, paramedic, and forester, he retired as a Captain with Big Lake Fire Department in Big Lake, AK. He was a member of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Elizabeth City.

   Surviving are his four daughters, Betty Jean Herbert of Wasilla, AK, Dorothy Kay "Katie" Ihde of Kenai, AK, Fawn E. Stone of Wasilla, and Debra Stone of Floresville, TX; a brother, Michael Stone of Hertford, two sisters, Holly Longtin (husband, Mike) and Mia Adams (husband, Dan), both of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Kyle, Kemper, Zachary, Wyatt, Gwendolyn, and Josey; and nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 4, at 11:00 a.m. in New Hope Christian Fellowship, 1363 US 17, Elizabeth City. Friends may visit with the family in the church the hour prior to the services on Saturday.
