Keith Harrell

   David Keith Harrell, 62, of 2034 Keith Lane, Edenton, NC, died Monday, January 3, 2022 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

   Mr. Harrell was born in Hertford County on August 25, 1959, and was the son of the late David Ray Harrell and Myrtle Rachel Harrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank “Eli” Harrell; step-mother, Edna Casper Thomas-Harrell; and by a step-brother, William Earl Thomas. The owner and operator of The Dirt Boys (a soil supply business), Rocky Hock Campground, and David’s Red Barn, he was a member of Open Door Church. Other enjoyments included his love of flying Ultralight planes, and inventing and building different things whether it was for fun or work.

   Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Phyllis Ward Harrell; two sons, Chris Harrell and Shane Harrell (wife, Taylor); his grandson, Colt McCoy Harrell, all of Edenton; a sister, Rachel H. Spruill (husband, Tim) of Columbia; a sister-in-law, Nancy Burgess Harrell of Edenton; a step-sister, Wanda Clayton (husband, Ken) of Willow Spring; a step-brother, Warren Thomas of Oxford; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Russell Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery, Tynch Town Road, Edenton. Friends may join the family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
