Daniel William Phelps, Sr.

Daniel William Phelps, Sr., 65, of Edenton, NC, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026.

Daniel was born on January 9, 1961 in York County, Maine and was the son of the late Syd William Phelps and Marcia Pratt Phelps.

Daniel loved spending time with his family, telling stories, and being involved with his community. When Daniel wasn’t spending time with family, he loved working on cars, fishing, and doing puzzles. His love for puzzles was brought on by his late mother, he was always very generous and was known by most by “Pops”. He was very passionate about all kinds of work to cars either mechanic or body work, he knew his way around a vehicle.

Along with his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his brother Chris Phelps.

Daniel is survived by his children; William Bruce Phelps, Nichole Hine, Rabecca Phelps, and Daniel Phelps, Jr.; siblings, Debi Spruill, Stephanie Swain, Betsy Taylor, and Chip Phelps; grandchildren, Saphira, Sara, Mya, and Bella; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Daniel’s sister, Debbie’s home, 3867 Pearidge Road, Roper NC, 27970.
