Cynthia Anne Rios

It is with heavy and sorrowful hearts that we announce the passing of our much loved mom, grandma (Me-Maw), and sister, Cynthia Anne Rios, on April 28, 2026, at the age of 57. Cyndie was born on December 1, 1968, in Yonkers, New York and was a resident of Hertford, North Carolina.

Cyndie was a woman with a giving heart who was always the first to show up for others. Her greatest joys were spending time with her daughters, Kelly and Kathy, and her grandchildren Ni-Ni, Fuzz, Squints, Cola Bear, and Rina-Bug and her great-grandbaby, Peanut. She cherished simple moments like movie nights with her daughters and grandchildren, cuddling on the couch, and sitting on the back porch talking for hours.

She loved celebrating Cinco de Mayo with her “toxic margaritas,” and Taco Tuesday nights were one of her favorite traditions. She was also a proud and loyal member of the Holiday Island Clubhouse, where she enjoyed spending time with friends, helping serve meals, and decorating for events.

In a moment that feels both heartbreaking and deeply meaningful, Cyndie passed on the six-year anniversary of her daughter Kelly’s passing a date that now carries a sense of reunion. It brings comfort to her family to believe that Kelly was there, waiting with open arms, guiding her mom home and welcoming her into eternal peace.

Cyndie was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Robinson; her beloved daughter, Kelly Richardson (Jeremy); her husband, Luis Rios; and her siblings, Ralph “Billy” Robinson and Paul Robinson.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathleen Almodova (Andrew) of Hertford; her cherished grandchildren, Anaiya Almodova, Nicole Richardson, Ariana Almodova, Sabian Almodova, and Tsarina Richardson; and her great-grandchild, Warren Wille.

She is also survived by her siblings: Rebecca Castello of New York, Donald Robinson of Washington State, Ruth Benjaminson of Hertford, Jennifer Williams of Hertford, and James Robinson of Edenton.

Cyndie will be remembered for her love of family, her strength, and the care she gave to those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her daughter shares this special message:
“I am going to miss our late night talks more than anything. Those moments where I could come to you with anything on my mind, no matter how big or small, and you always knew exactly what to say. Even when life felt overwhelming or didn’t make sense, you had a way of calming me down and making everything feel okay again.

You were my comfort, my strength, and my safe place. Thank you for always being there, for listening without judgment, and for loving me the way only you could. I will carry your words, your love, and your lessons with me every day.

I love you, Mom, to the moon and beyond. Don’t let the bed bugs bite. I win. Huggy huggy.”

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
