Clyde Wood

   Willis Clyde Wood, 66, of 168 Hertford Beach Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in his home.

   Clyde was born in Edgecombe County on December 26, 1956, and was the son of the late Willis Rex Wood and Martha Lee Johnson Warren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Whitfield.

   A retired automotive mechanic, he currently served as the manager of Strick’s Family Campground in Hertford. An avid outdoorsman, he especially loved bass fishing. A true friend to so many people, he deeply loved his family which most definitely included his “campground family”.

   Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Peggy Jo Sullivan Wood; two sons, Scottie Wood (Tammy) of Wilson and James Wood (Robin) of Spring Hope; four grandchildren, Timmy, Crystal, Makayla, and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Travis; a sister, Becky Lee Johnson of Nashville; two nieces, Rebecca Morgan and Hillary Jones; a nephew, Charles Johnson; very dear friends, Bob, Jr. and Teeny Strickland; and many other extended family members and friends.

   A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. on the waterfront lawn at Strick's Family Campground, 168 Hertford Beach Road, Hertford.
