Cleta "Holly" Hollenbeck Lewis

Cleta "Holly" Hollenbeck Lewis, 97, of 211 Sunset Drive, Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Born on June 20, 1929, in Horseheads, New York, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Hollenbeck and Vera Carrington Hollenbeck.

The eldest of three children, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth "Bud" Hollenbeck. She is survived by her sister, Alice Struzinsky of Owego, New York.

Mrs. Lewis was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years, Charles H. "Chuck" Lewis, who passed away in May 2026. Left to cherish her memory are her only child, Vera Adderholdt, and Vera's devoted partner, Gerald Waters, both of whom were the joy of Holly's life.

In her younger years, Mrs. Lewis had a great love for horses. During Chuck's distinguished career in the United States Navy, she embraced the opportunity to travel throughout the world. No matter where life took them, she took great pride in creating a beautiful home, tending her flower gardens, and surrounding her family with love. Her devotion to those she loved was evident throughout her life.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mary, Lisa, and James of Albemarle Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to and her family.

A private celebration of Mrs. Lewis’ life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
