Clara Mae Jenkins

Clara Mae Cavender Jenkins, 77, of Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 in Norfolk, VA.

Mrs. Jenkins was born in Monroe County, TN on December 18, 1948, and was the daughter of the late John Henry Cavender and Iva Mae Giles Cavender. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Leroy Timothy Jenkins;  her brother, John Cavender, Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Dennis Hinkle.

She was a retired office manager and was a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She loved the beach, lighthouses, and Christmas.  She would always say that lighthouses were a beacon of light, and always there to light your way.

Surviving are her daughter, Diana Miller and her husband, Scott of Burlington, KY; a step-son, Robert Walter “Bobby” Jenkins and his wife, Karen of Edenton; two granddaughters, Sharon Jenkins and Anna Powell and her husband, Jeremy;  her sister, Peggy Hinkle;  her brother, Clyde Cavender and his wife, Pat;  her sister-in-law, Verda Cavender;  and four great-grandchildren, Jazmyn, Jaxon, Sophia, and Carter.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
