Charles Ervin Gregory, Jr., 64, of Edenton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Born December 16, 1961, in Tifton, Georgia, he was the son of Charles Ervin Gregory, Sr. and Sarah Ethel Rainwater Gregory.

Charles is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lisa Grizzard Gregory; his stepchildren, Janelle Austin, Joshua Austin, and Jordan Austin (Jewel); his stepgrandsons, Aidan Austin, Joy'Siah Austin, and Jeremias Austin; his mother, Sarah Ethel Rainwater Gregory; and his sisters, Sarah Ann Harrell, Elizabeth Gregory Speight (Ken), and Julie Gregory Rose (Rod).

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ervin Gregory, Sr.

Charles was baptized and raised in the First Baptist Church of Tarboro.

A 1980 graduate of Tarboro High School, Charles was active in Student Council, Drama Club, and Key Club and was recognized as an Outstanding Senior. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and North Carolina State University.

In 1984, Charles joined his father’s company, Gregory Manufacturing, in Lewiston Woodville, North Carolina. During his 24 years with the company, he held numerous positions, eventually serving as president.

He was active with the North Carolina Agribusiness Council and the Southern Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association and also served as a volunteer with the Leggett Volunteer Fire Department.

Farming and agriculture were lifelong interests for Charles, along with a special affection for animals of every kind.

Music was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar.

While attending ABAC, Charles participated in rodeos, developing an appreciation for Western culture that remained with him throughout his life. His Western jeans, cowboy boots,and signature cowboy hat became a distinctive part of his style and an unmistakable part of who he was.

Above all, Charles will be remembered for his generous spirit, caring heart, and the kindness he showed to others.

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother in Tarboro, North Carolina, on Sunday, September 27, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
