Carl Wesley Aston, Sr.

Carl Wesley Aston, Sr. 83, of 220 Kellogg Fork Road, Sunbury NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Nans Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing in Suffolk, VA.

A native of Nansemond County, VA, Carl was the husband of 25 years to the late Wanda Clark Aston and the son of Lee Andrew Aston and Gercia Twiford Aston, both deceased. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Maintenance Department with the Suffolk, Virginia School System. Carl was a faithful member of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Edenton, NC.

Survivors include his children, Carla Ann and Carl Aston, Jr.; grandchildren and great grandchildren; stepdaughters, Judy Harrell and husband, Dennis, Trish Jones and husband, John, and Nancy Hedgepeth and husband, Larry; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Brown; and four brothers, Lee Aston, Jr., Towe Twiford Aston, Benjamin Aston, and Donald Aston.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Gatesville, NC with Pastor Danny Gurganus officiating. Interment will follow at the Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery in Corapeake, NC. The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Other times the family will be at the residence.
