   Bruce White “Pot” Taylor, 86, of Merry Hill, NC, died Friday, April 7, 2023 in ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mr. Taylor was born in Bertie County on February 17, 1937 and was the son of the late Thomas Speight and Belva White Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Florence T. Bunch (Ed, deceased) and Kaye T. Felton (Dickie, deceased); and by his brothers, Manley and Tracy Taylor.

   A retired self-employed logger, he was known in the community for his barbequed pork and chicken and how he loved to feed his neighbors. Other enjoyments included his love of fishing. He was a member of Capehart’s Baptist Church.

   Surviving is his wife, Ida Ruth Overton; two daughters, Angie Taylor Tipton (Charlie) of Leicester and Sharon Kaye Overton Godfrey (C.L.) of Hertford; three sons, Leon Douglas Cobb, Sr. (Kathy), Tony G. Cobb (Kelley Conrad), and Bruce Speight Taylor, Sr. all of Merry Hill. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a nephew, Ben Bunch; a niece, Holly Perry; and other extended family members and friends.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29th, at 2:00 p.m. in Perrytown Assembly of God Church and will be conducted by Pastors David Baker and Tim Parker.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to ECU Health Chowan Hospital Palliative Care Suite, P.O. Box 629, Edenton, NC 27932.
