Blanche East Harrell

   Blanche East Harrell, 94, of 431 Ryland Road, Tyner, NC, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 in Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation, Edenton.

   Mrs. Harrell was born in Norfolk, VA on March 15, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Minerva Little East. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edison Harrell, sisters, Frances Taylor, Sybil Elliott, Myrtle Lamb, and Shirley Taylor, and by brothers, Russell, Walter Jr., and Jesse East.

   A retired caregiver having worked mostly in private duty care, she also found great joy and pleasure caring for countless children in the community through the years and watching them grow from infancy into adulthood. A faithful servant of the Lord, she was a longtime member of the former Hunter's Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church.

   Surviving is her daughter, Susie Byrum (husband, James); a son, Ronnie Harrell (wife, Cathy); a brother, Leroy East; a sister-in-law, Dot East; five grandchildren, Christy (husband, Nick), Sherri (husband, Doug), Valerie (husband, Ricky), Stephen (wife, Christy), and Amy (husband, Mike); and 10 great-grandchildren, Landon, Owen, Kailyn, Cora Beth, Douglas, Ethan, Mason, Jacob, Christian, and Adeline.

   A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Mullen Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service.
