Betty Marie Harris

Betty Marie Harris, 77, of Hertford, NC, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Edenton.

Ms. Harris was born in Pasquotank County on July 19, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Lemuel Archie, Sr. and Lizzie Morse Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lemuel Archie “L.A.” Harris, Jr. and by a brother-in-law, Sherman Long.

For many years she had been employed as a custodian with Camden County Schools.

Surviving is her daughter, Freda Forbes (companion, Chris Lemoine); two grandchildren, Stephenie “Brooke” Tuthill (husband, John) and Kimberlee Forbes; and a sister, Susan H. Long.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor Jay Rivenbark. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Monday.
