Barbara Faye Long Harrell

Barbara Faye Long Harrell, 88, of Hertford, NC passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Born in Pasquotank County, NC on August 17, 1937, Barbara was the wife of the late Jack William Harrell and the daughter of Royal Fred Long and Opal Creef Long, both deceased.

Barbara is survived by her son, David A. Harrell and his partner, Ruby Whitehurst; her younger brother, Fred Long, Jr. and wife, Priscilla; and younger sister, Diane Dail and husband, Victor Dail. Barbara is also survived by sisters-in-law, Louise Holmes and husband, Douglas, and Betty Jane Harrell. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her older sister, Audrey Albertson.

Barbara is survived by nieces and nephews Laurie Church and husband, Chris, Royal Fred Long III, Brandon Yohn and wife Jennifer, Danny Yohn, Cindy Albertson, Larry Albertson and wife Cathy, Ricky Albertson and wife Gina. Barbara was predeceased by nephew Mike Albertson.

A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Hertford, NC with Rev. Jay Rivenbark officiating.
