Anne Elizabeth Wilson Chambers

Anne Elizabeth Wilson Chambers died on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She was born in Pasquotank County, N.C., on August 8, 1929, to the late Samuel Seymore Wilson and Anna Markham Wilson Spivey. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, the Irene Butt Circle of the Methodist Women, Family Research Society of NENC, and an honorary member of Durant’s Neck Ruritan Club. Her cornbread became a family staple and her poundcake was the basis of legend. She was a devoted gardener and master seamstress; she had an award-winning peplum of her own design. She had a lifelong love of reading, music, dancing, playing bridge, visiting with friends, and supervising all manner of family projects.

Anne was the matriarch of five generations. She is survived by a son, Benjamin H. Chambers and wife, Patricia; a daughter, Jennifer C. Eure and husband, Melvin; a son-in-law, Larry L. Wood; a daughter-in-law, Rae Chambers; a child of her heart,Yvonne Chambers; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte W. Brickhouse; a brother-in-law, Hershel Stone; many nieces and nephews; and several very special friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Chambers; a daughter, Anna C. Wood; a son, Samuel Steven Chambers; a grandson, Reggie Eure; a brother, Charles S. Wilson; as well as her parents.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025 in the New Hope Church Cemetery with Rev. Carroll Bundy officiating. Immediately following the graveside service, the family will greet friends in the fellowship hall at New Hope Church, 2098 New Hope Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
