Alvy Lee Futrell, Jr.

Alvy Lee Futrell, Jr., 71, of 597 Folly Road, Sunbury, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

Alvy was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 28, 1954, and was the husband of over 40 years to the late Sharon Greene Futrell and the son of Alvy Lee Futrell, Sr. and Dorothy Belle Jones Futrell, both deceased. He was a graduate of Gates County High School and was a longtime member of Eureka Baptist Church. Alvy retired from Quality Equipment John Deere, Sunbury, NC

In addition to his wife and parents, Alvy was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Lee Futrell. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband, Brian, of Dayton, TX.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Gatesville, NC with Greg Casper officiating.
