Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Albert James Carter, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on January 26, 1953, in Rocky Mount, NC, Albert passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Albert was a dedicated heavy equipment operator, whose strong work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues and friends. He had a quiet strength and a contagious smile that made anyone he encountered feel at ease.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Carter, who stood by his side for many cherished years. Albert was the proud father of Katherine "Kristi" Williams (Jamie), Richard Carter (Kylie), and Jerad Carter. He was the adored grandfather of Matthew, Lucas, Bryan, and Lily Carter, who brought immense joy to his life. Albert’s siblings, Margaret Laroache, Vivian Bland, Evelyn Brock, and Joe Carter, along with an extended family, including many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, will deeply miss his warm presence and generous spirit.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Roberta Carter, and siblings Faye Faulkner, Ann Taylor, Polly Allen, Danny Carter, David Carter, Charles Carter, and Willie Carter. Though gone from our sight, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he left behind.

Albert found great joy in spending time with his wife, children, family, and friends. His gatherings brimmed with laughter and love, building memories that will be cherished forever.

The arrangements are being handled by Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Homes & Crematory in Hertford. The family appreciates your love and prayers during this difficult time, and will have a private service honoring Alberts life.

Albert James Carter lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and a deep love for those around him. He will be dearly missed, yet his legacy endures through the lives he touched.
