Claudie Britt Dixon

Claudie Marie Britt Dixon, 92, formerly of Murfreesboro, NC, and more recently of Sterling House in Greenville, died Sunday, May 26, 2013. Mrs. Dixon was born in Northampton County, and was the daughter of the late Claudie Roy and Bernice Johnson Britt. A homemaker, she was a longtime member of Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, and after moving to Greenville became a member of Oakmont Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dixon; a sister, Elizabeth Blowe; and two brothers, Raymond and Jack Britt. Surviving are her daughter, Jeanne Dixon Barlow and husband David of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Ray Dixon and wife Phyllis of Greenville and Jay Dixon and wife Gail of Garner; three brothers, Carl Britt and Charles Britt, both of Milwaukee, and James Britt of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery, and will be officiated by the Rev. Michael McKnight. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the graveside rites. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sterling House Christmas Fund for employees, at 2105 Arlington Blvd, Greenville, NC 27834.
