Robert Zackarrah Harris

Robert Zackarrah Harris, 70, of 814 Badham Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Harris was born in Portsmouth, VA on March 10, 1943, and was the son of the late Zachariah and June Allaid Harris. Retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he had served in the United States Navy. Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Maie Dennis Harris; two sons, Bobby Harris of Virginia Beach and Jeff Harris of Ohio; a step-daughter, Cindy Stark of Greenup, IL; and two half-sisters, Melody Loving and Karen Taylor, both of Portsmouth. Also surviving are Maie's children, Jeffrey Sutherland of Edenton and Kimberly Corcoran of Summerville, SC. Together Maie and Robert shared six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Rev. Randy Pierce. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
